Because of the idiot trying to shut down the board through denial of service attacks, I have had to shut down the register script. If any new members want to register, you will have to email me directly.

Thanks.

Mr X

A DoS attack bombards a domain/place on the web with multiple simultaneous attempts to access the content there, which overloads servers and such. So you could write a script to continually register an account here and hit that page hundreds of times a second, which will fck up everything else here.. At least, that's my understanding lol :/

Hi Mr. X,

It means that someone attempted to flood the message board with messages in an attempt to cause a shut down or so other members could not use the board. You can read a good description of it here: http://www.cert.org/tech_tips/denial_of_service.html

This is actually against the law. I have information about this user and will be calling the authorities about this matter.

Hi Folks

It also appears that Arturo was bent on blaming me for some reason, I cannot understand the guy been so disruptive. He also claimed he was one of my Customers and was posting my system did not work so no one else would purchase it and that it does work. If I find out who it is, or you do Fishman, let me know, he will NOT be having any more Software Updates for my Roulette Computer, thatís for sure.

I did post here to tell him it was nothing to do with me, but he was not having any of it. Abuse in any form is offensive especially when its unwarranted and misdirected revenge on the wrong people.

Oh well, back to normality I hope.

Regards

Mark ..

You can bet your life it was him!

The guy has just sent me a few Profane emails with threats.

Then he start. mail bombing my email address.

The guy has lost the plot. I have reported him to his Internet provider for the abuse and also the abuse here, he was silly enough to use his own email address from his provider, what a clown.

Cannot understand people that lose it like this.

Oh well

Hi Turbo,

Does your BBS allow you to restrict the maximum number of posts by a member over a period of 24 hours? I am thinking of changing the script to add this limitation.

Checking on that now for ya.

There is a flood protection measure that the admin can set..
example that it can be set to 60 seconds, so a person cannot post before that time once they have posted a message.
I'm sure it can be set much higher to prevent floods..

I'm sure there are other protective settings but I've only been admin for a couple of days so still learning

You can also see who's at the site, what they are doing and where (posting, reading, etc) and the IP, all other users that use the same IP (multiple names) and can ban with many options (IP, email, name, others)

The admin format is very simple and the site is much easier to clean and keep control of... just my opinion.
(might resolve some headaches that are here)

Sorry to hear about the problems you(all of us) are having. DOS attacks really can mess things up. I had trouble with DOS attacks once in relation to offshore investing(ended up losing some money). I am hoping there will be a positive outcome...

HI Japple

#Art also attacked my email addy and lauched mails from other sites last night. Not only did /I report him, but also the other sites in question. I should think his IP provider will have closed his account now, sad when someone loses it like this for no reason. He was aiming hin anger at me, fishman , this site and other sites.

FISHMAN,

I'm in the IT industry and can help you track who this person is. What is their IP address and what do you know about this person? I have a lot of tools that most people wouldnt have.

Hi DoubleZero,

Thanks for the help, but in this case we know who it is. The guy used his real email address to register to the site, and then admitted he did this through email correspondence. I have his IP, but in this case we won't need it.
