Well, a lot of you guys have been asking for this, so here goes. Heavy's Axis Power Craps precision dice shooting clinic comes to Tunica, Mississipi on August 16, 17, and 18th. Tunica is the South's casino gaming capital. It's central location, just 20 minutes south of Memphis, Tennessee, makes for easy access from all areas of the country.
Check in a day early and check out the sites and sounds of Memphis. Visit Elvis's Graceland. Learn about the blues on historic Beale Street. Enjoy a plate of Memphis style barbeque at world-famous Neely's Bar-B-Q. Tour Sun Records Studios, the birth place of Rock and Roll. Or just hang out at Tunica's world class casinos. There are ten to chose from.
Here's what's on tap for the weekend.
Friday the 16th is arrival day. No formal meetings are scheduled, however an optional, informal meet and greet will be available. Get together and put names with faces, form new friendships, and perhaps join forces for some casual casino play. But get to bed early - Saturday will be a full schedule.
Saturday the 17th coffee will be available at 8:00AM. At 8:30 we'll start off with a 90 minute discussion on the theory of precision shooting. We'll cover pre-set arrangements, grip, pick up and delivery of the dice. Then we'll spend the remainder of the morning honing your precision pitch on the practice boxes.
After lunch we'll briefly review what we learned in the morning session. Then we will disuss the mental aspects of the game, correct betting strategies, how to find a hot shooter, money management and discipline. We'll also do a little prep for the Sunday in-casino session. Then it's back to the practice boxes.
We will break at around 5:00 pm to recap the day and compare practice results. Though the day's session will "officially" end at that time, the practice boxes will be available until 9:00 pm for anyone who wants additional tossing time. Typically, most of the attendees at these types of seminars end up getting together with a group of their new-found friends for dinner and a little table take-over at the casinos. That's all up to you, but a word of caution. Be sure to set aside some of your bankroll for Sunday morning's in-casino session.
On Sunday morning we will reconvene for team assignments, then head out to the casinos for a two hour session. You will be accompanied by a team leader who will record your rolls and provide detail for your final critique. When your session is over, all teams will meet once again and we will present the Golden Arm Award to the player with the best roll of the day.
Assisting me in this clinic will be veteran precision shooter Jerry "The Stick Man" Stich. During the classroom practice sessions, all students will have the opportunity to work with both Jerry and myself. Since Jerry and I have slightly different throwing styles, it will be a great opportunity for you to observe and attempt both methods - then pick the pitch that works best for you. Throughout the practice sessions we'll track sevens to rolls ratios and work to fine tune your pitch.
The fee will be $295 per player. The early bird rate is $265 for anyone who registers prior to June 15, 2002. If you already own a copy of my Axis Power Craps manual you can take another $30 off the price. Just remember to bring your book to the clinic. Since space is going to be limited on this event, $100 of the enrollment fee is a non-refundable deposit. Should something come up that prevents you from attending, the $100 will be applied as a deposit to a subsequent seminar.
You'll be on your own for hotels, transportation and meals. The meeting itself will be held at the Holiday Inn Express, located just minutes from the casinos on Casino Center Blvd. in Tunica. Their weekend rate is $65 a night. Should you decide to stay there please identify yourself as an attendee for the Axis Power Craps Seminar. The direct telephone number to the hotel is (662) 363-0030. For those of you flying in - Memphis is a hub city for Northwest, and is served by all the major airlines. Shuttle service from the airport to Tunica is available, and there is a "Tunica Trolly" shuttle that takes players from one casino to another. However, most people prefer to have a rental car. I recommend it.
